WELCOME TO THE CESSNOCK DISTRICT NETBALL ASSOCIATION
At Cessnock District Netball Association, we strive to provide our members with the best opportunities to develop to their fullest potential as netball players, coaches, managers and umpires and encourage them to love netball for life.
We commit to working respectfully to honour the ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this country and recognise the role and value of culture in all our communities
OUR HISTORY
The Cessnock District Netball Association was formed in 1970 after two local mums, Mrs Thais Kempe & Mrs Jill Chambers, were concerned that there was no provision for young girls to play sport in Cessnock. Within 6 weeks of a public meeting being called, the first step in a chain of events, which had in less than 6 weeks, provided courts, teams, raffles and equipment to start the Cessnock Netball Association. Within 6 weeks of its inception, some 350 children were waiting to play netball. With six umpires on loan from Maitland Association and as many borrowed rule books, the first games were played.

Through the tireless efforts of Mrs Kempe, perpetual trophies and honour boards were purchased from donations made by almost every business house in Cessnock. The clubs only funds were made available by Mrs Ruth Cameron and Mrs Betty Witton, who ran a small canteen facility outside the club house. At this point, umpires were a priority and with the help of Enid Jones and Willimena Swan, classes were held at Aberdare School. Mrs Jan Warburton, who was to hold several executive positions including President over the years, was our first 'B' badge umpire.

What a great foundation to build our club to what it is today. Cessnock Netball's future is looking bright.
